Custom made for local author Monica Drake, this two piece arose from a discussion about the analyzation of our past and present selves that often occurs midlife. This juxtaposition is often experienced more vividly and with more lucidity than before.
Ms Drake's novel Clown Girl represents Portland in the early nineties; bold, crass, unfettered by traditional societal boundaries yet beautiful, full of life and brightly lit with a casual and fierce independence.
By engaging elements including a large double sided rectangular collar that sits upon the shoulders and a high waist accentuated by an oversized black waistband the Drake Harlequin extracts all this youthful zeal (torment?) and squeezes it into a chic two piece matching top and pant. The Drake Harlequin is where the youthful jester intersects with with mature elegance
